Throughout his career, there's been a few songs that really struck Cody Johnson, but he wasn't sure if they should be singles. Thankfully the fans have the final vote, and have pushed tracks like "'Til You Can't" and the latest single, "The Fall," into the spotlight. Backstage at the 2025 ACM Awards, Cody explained why it's always up to the fans, and shared his excited with Katie Neal for this week's award show.

In celebration of 2012’s closing, I will be wrapping up my personal top ten games of 2012 with the five titles I felt stood apart from the crowd and delivered an experience that I will never forget, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Continuing on with the list at #5, Electronic Arts races back onto my list with the surprisingly stunning open-world racer, Need for Speed Most Wanted. Developed by Criterion Games, the same team behind the Burnout franchise, Most Wanted redefines the declining racing series delivering an open-world environment mixed with intense racing mechanics justifying the placement of the latest title in the Need for Speed series.

Sneaking in at #4, the title I feel is the most underappreciated of 2012, Twisted Metal released with fire blazing with the classic Twisted Metal gameplay integrating new mechanics and a robust online multiplayer element creating hours of entertainment. It’s not very often you see a title reemerge after years of silence and deliver an even better experience, but thanks to David Jaffe and the team over at Eat Sleep Play, Twisted Metal earns one of my top spots for 2012.

Here is where things get tough and decisions become more crucial than ever. To earn a spot within my top three, the experience must be groundbreaking, memorable, and downright awesome. When Ubisoft declared that Assassin’s Creed III would be the best game to ever come out of the publisher, I originally thought they were just revving the hype train as many companies do, but I later learned this was not the case. Assassin’s Creed III is game with massive scale featuring gorgeous environments topped off with engaging story and twists that caused my jaw to drop. While the four-hour long tutorial is pretty tedious, once you endure the pain, the ride provided is one that defines the franchise.

Coming in at #2, Halo 4 is undeniably my favorite first-person shooter to launch this year. Despite Bungie’s absence, 343 Industries made it clear that they were responsible for delivering the best Halo experience to date and while that is debatable, the overall package Halo 4 delivers between the campaign, multiplayer, and Spartan Ops, is something our industry lacks, especially at the level of quality in which Halo 4 offers.

Well here we are, the Holy Grail. What game topped all others for 2012? Which game provided the best overall package with endless hours of gameplay and entertainment? While the decision had my mind boggling for hours, I came to the conclusion that Borderlands 2 is my Game of Year for 2012 delivering an extensive campaign that doesn’t feel strung out, co-op defining elements that developers will be tempted to duplicate in the future, and a variety of intense weapons that can only be found in the Borderlands universe. As one who was just satisfied with the original Borderlands, I must admit Bordlerlands 2 is a game I hold close to my heart and one that will remain in my heart for years to come.

Well that concludes today’s episode of Nick’s Gaming View and my top ten games of 2012 but be sure to follow me on Twitter @NickMcCandless and let me know what you feel stood out during 2012, the year gaming reached an entirely new level.

E-mail: admin@thegameraccess.com

Twitter: https://twitter.com/NickMcCandless

Google+: https://plus.google.com/101731558093991354166

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/OfficialNickMcCandless
In celebration of 2012’s closing, I will be counting down my personal top ten games of 2012 beginning with spots 10 through 6, so stay tuned for which games made the cut and tune in tomorrow for my top five of this incredible year for gaming, THIS IS NICK’S GAMING VIEW!

Hello everyone and welcome to Nick’s Gaming View, you are here with your host, Nick McCandless. Starting with #10, Electronic Art’s rebirth of SSX rose my eyebrows upon the announcement as the franchise was among a steep downslope, but thankfully the team over at EA Canada was able to pull off a 180 to bring the franchise back on its feet and deliver an incredible snowboarding game that was longed for, at least from my end.

Rounding out at #9, while the PlayStation Vita has off to a rough start causing concern for developers behind the device, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, while not on the level of the console counterparts, certainly proved the potential of the Vita platform. Despite the lack of online multiplayer, the visuals, gameplay, and execution of story were all solid earning a position on my top ten games of 2012.

With Rockstar Games deep within the development of Grand Theft Auto V, you would think receiving a stellar experience within a year of the release would be insane, but they successfully pulled it off with the release of Max Payne 3. Delivering an engaging story with somewhat decent multiplayer, Max Payne 3 was a surprise hit and the fact that it released during a slump, successfully allowed the game to receive the attention it deserves earning my #8.

When a game is able to invade the realm of video game press for months after its release, you know the game has done something right. Mass Effect 3 coming in at #7 provided an action-packed adventure filled with entertainment that even someone as myself who was never a fan of the franchise appreciated. While the ending received an overabundance of backlash, I feel as if it was bit overdramatic and even outside of that, the campaign was nothing short of amazing.

Finishing off today’s episode of Nick’s Gaming View, Call of Duty: Black Ops II surprisingly finagles itself within the exquisite class of games for 2012 despite the repetitiveness of the franchise. Offering the most unique gameplay experience for the franchise since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops II certainly does not redefine the franchise, but as a fan of the first-person shooting genre, it’s nice to see the most successful franchise this console generation develop a new taste.

Well that concludes today’s episode of Nick’s Gaming View but be sure to follow me on Twitter @NickMcCandless and check back tomorrow for my top five games of 2012.

E-mail: admin@thegameraccess.com

Twitter: https://twitter.com/NickMcCandless

Google+: https://plus.google.com/101731558093991354166

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/OfficialNickMcCandless
